About the DAS
- The Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS) works closely with our government and has over 160 professional staff who provide an array of services for dyslexics not only in Singapore but in the region.
- DAS Specialist Psychologists conduct assessments and diagnosis for preschool to adult clients.
- DAS Educational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists provide support for over 2030 preschool, primary and secondary school students in 15 venues all over Singapore.
- The DAS Academy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DAS, delivers professional training workshops and courses including a Masters in Specific Learning Differences accredited by a recognized university from the UK.
- The DAS Academy also conducts regular training courses overseas in Brunei and Hong Kong.
- Increasingly, the DAS will provide support for dyslexics who also suffer from other Specific Learning Differences such as ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Aspergers Syndrome.
Why join the DAS ?
Potential for organizational growth. While the DAS provides support for over 2030 students, it is estimated that there are 23,000 students from preschool to secondary school with dyslexia severe enough to warrant intervention. The DAS is therefore at the tip of the iceberg in terms of our potential client base. Additionally, there is tremendous potential for growth in the region as well as support for clients who suffer from associated specific learning differences.
Potential for individual growth. The DAS has grown in size by five times in the last seven years. In a rapidly growing organization, opportunities abound for staff who are willing to take on challenges and responsibilities.
Emphasis on professional development. While a not for profit organization, the DAS is first and foremost a professional organization delivering professional services to our clients. Our emphasis in therefore on the continued professional development of ALL staff. Selected staff will also have opportunities for higher education scholarships as well as to pioneer research.
Financially stable. In 2009, the Ministry of Education provided about 50% of the DAS’ annual budget. With adequate reserves and prudent management, the DAS is in a good financial position to continue our growth and to pay staff competitive salaries.
