Milestones

1989 Started as a Community Service Project of the Rotary Club of Raffles City
1991 Registration with the Registry of Societies and First Executive Committee formed
First office established in People’s Association premises at Kallang
1993 First learning centre at Student Care Services’ Centre in Clementi. 
 First teacher recruited and first batch of 12 students
1995 Mrs Goh Chok Tong becomes DAS Patron while Dr Lee Wei Ling becomes DAS Advisor. 
MOE Grant to DAS initiated
1996 Mr Lee Kuan Yew announced he was dyslexic. 
Second Learning Centre opened in Bedok. 
First joint MOE and DAS Dyslexia Awareness Course for MOE teachers.
1998 First Orton-Gillingham teacher training course conducted by Mr Ron Yoshimoto.
2000 Third Learning Centre started in Ang Mo Kio in Anderson Primary School.
2002 Appointed assessment team of psychologists.
2003 Training Services established
2004 Dyslexia Centre opened in SPRING Singapore
2006 Commenced 5 Year Training Contract with MOE Allied Educators
Launch of the DAS Pre-School Service
2007 The Financial Support from the Government through the National Council of Social Services was initiated
DAS provides training to Tung Wah Group in Hong Kong
2008 DAS wins Best Poster Award at the British Dyslexia Association Conference
2009 Computerized screening project for students from Anderson Primary School
Dyslexia Centre moves to Jurong Point
DAS conducts Certificate Course in Dyslexia Studies for the Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education, Brunei
First Dyslexia Conference in Asia
